Swing for a Million – Terms and Conditions for Players
Effective Date: March 1, 2025
Swing for a Million ("SFAM") is a national amateur golf tournament series operated by Swing for a Million LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your participation as a player ("you" or "Player") in SFAM Qualifiers, Divisional Championships, and National Championships. By registering, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
- Participants: Open to male amateur golfers, aged 18 or older, residing in the United States.
- Series: Two formats—Stroke Play (individual) and Two Player Best Ball (teams of two).
- Divisions: Four location-based divisions—Western, Midwest, Southern, Northeastern—determined by your registered ZIP code or Affiliate Club location.
- Amateur Status: You must comply with USGA Rules of Amateur Status—professional golfers are ineligible.
2. Registration and Entry Fees
- Initial Registration: Pre-register with a $50 non-refundable deposit per individual (Stroke Play) or $100 per team (Best Ball, $50 per player) via swingforamillion.com, credited toward the full entry fee.
- Full Entry Fee: $750 per player ($750 for Stroke Play, $1,500 per Best Ball team) must be paid via GoDaddy Payments on swingforamillion.com before your first tee shot in any Qualifier (Affiliate Course or Divisional Qualifier).
- Club Tournament Fees: You must pay the Affiliate Club’s tournament entry fee (if applicable) before the first tee shot or the club’s registrationdeadline, whichever is earlier—proof of payment may be required.
- Payment Deadline: Failure to pay the full SFAM entry fee ($750/player) and club fee before your first tee shot disqualifies you from advancing.
- Refunds: Deposits are non-refundable unless no Affiliate Club joins your division by April 30, 2025—refunds processed within 30 days thereafter. Full entry fees are non-refundable once paid.
3. Qualification Process
- Qualifier Types:
- Affiliate Course Qualifiers: Held at 576 participating clubs. The top SFAM-registered player (Stroke Play) or team (Best Ball) per club advances—576 qualifiers total (288 Stroke Play, 144 Best Ball teams/288 players).
- Divisional Qualifiers: Hosted by SFAM (August – September 2025), one per division Per Series. Each feature 144 players: 144 Stroke Play or 72 Best Ball teams (144 players). Top 72 advance—576 qualifiers total (288 Stroke Play, 144 Best Ball teams/288 players)
- Advancement:
- 1,152 players (576 Stroke Play, 288 Best Ball teams/576 players) advance to 8 Divisional Championships—144 players each (144 Stroke Play or 72 Best Ball teams).
- Top 36 from each of 4 Divisional Championships per series advance to Nationals—144 players per series (Stroke Play and Best Ball).
- Scoring:
- Stroke Play: No handicaps—lowest raw score qualifies/wins.
- Two Player Best Ball: Official USGA handicaps required—lowest net score qualifies/wins.
4. Tournament Rules
- USGA Rules: All play adheres to USGA Rules of Golf, except where modified by SFAM or Affiliate Club rules.
- Handicap Disclosure: Best Ball players must provide a current, official USGA handicap index to SFAM and the Affiliate Club before teeing off in any Qualifier—failure to disclose disqualifies the team.
- Tee Shots: You must complete payment (SFAM and club fees) before your first tee shot in a Qualifier—late payments void qualification.
- Conduct: You must follow SFAM and club codes of conduct—violations (e.g., cheating, unsportsmanlike behavior) may result in disqualification without refund.
- Disputes: SFAM decisions on scoring, eligibility, and disputes are final.
5. Player Responsibilities
- Accuracy: Provide accurate registration data (name, email, ZIP, handicap for Best Ball)—falsification results in disqualification.
- Fees: Pay all required fees (SFAM entry and club tournament entry fees) on time—failure to do so voids eligibility.
- Travel: Cover your own travel costs to Divisional Qualifiers, Divisional Championships, and National Championships—SFAM provides event details 30 days prior.
6. Prizes and Championships
- Divisional Championships: 8 events (4 Stroke Play, 4 Best Ball), 144 players each, $125,000 purse per event ($1,000,000 total). Top 36 advance From (Each of the 4 Divisional Qualifiers both Series) will to Nationals Championships.
- National Championships: 2 events 2 Rounds Each (1 Stroke Play, 1 Best Ball), 144 players each, $1,000,000 purse per event ($2,000,000 total).
- Prize Distribution:
- Stroke Play: Winner receives $500,000; remaining $500,00 among places 2-34 (33 players).
- Two Player Best Ball: Winning team receives $500,000 ($250,000 per player); remaining $500,000 among places 2-34 (33 teams, 66 players).
- Exact payout for places 2-34 determined by SFAM—prizes paid within 5-10 days post-event.
7. Liability and Cancellation
- Liability: SFAM, its affiliates, and clubs are not liable for injuries, losses, or damages during events—participation is at your own risk.
- Cancellation: SFAM may cancel or modify events due to weather, unforeseen circumstances, or insufficient participation—refunds limited to unplayed events at SFAM’s discretion (deposits non-refundable).
- Force Majeure: SFAM is not liable for delays or cancellations due to acts of God, pandemics, or government restrictions.
8. Intellectual Property
- Media Rights: SFAM may photograph, record, or stream events—you grant SFAM perpetual rights to use your likeness for promotion without compensation.
- Trademarks: "Swing for a Million" and "Swing Your Way to a Million" are trademarks of American Golf Classic LLC—unauthorized use is prohibited.
9. Governing Law
- Jurisdiction: These Terms are governed by the laws of Arizona , without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes resolved in Maricopa courts.
10. Amendments
- Updates: SFAM may amend these Terms—changes posted on swingforamillion.com. Continued participation constitutes acceptance.
